Re: Paper or Plastic?well, seeing as we are on this site I guess all use keyboards, but did you mean for original drafts when the ispiration hits? |

Re: Paper or Plastic? When I write something for the first time I always use my "lucky pen" and write it in my composition book but than obviously I have to transfer it onto the computer eventually to get it to microsoft word but when I write something it is never done on the computer I just transfer it to there. |

Re: Paper or Plastic?yup. |

Re: Paper or Plastic?i find ... that it's too easy to edit on the computer |

I don't think it matters to me talent is talent but than again I'm not all knowing and an expert on everything either like most of the world |

Re: Paper or Plastic?BDI, Star drift started this 21st. century poet line on his thread. He defines it as a poet who began writing poems after the year 2000. Of course it is more of a figurative perspective that a literal one. When did you write your first poem and what was the catalyst? |

"first poem" 5th grade: I wrote becasue I just discovered verse, and loved it. approx 2002. |

Re: Paper or Plastic?BDI: 2002 ... and ... with a pen? what was your tool of choice for your first work? |

Re: Paper or Plastic?Congradulations BDI, you no longer have to wonder what a 21st. century poet is, you are one! |

Re: Paper or Plastic? From a living relic: I sketch out on paper and edit, then when comfortable with product, will start to post. There are very recent times when I wrote on the fly, and after posting, found errors that weren't exposed by spellcheck. Deleted poem to correct and realized the deletion was only copy I had (OUCH!!) So, you see, it becomes a complete re-write. (Happened on "Doubts Prisoners") The preference is to have the hard copy to fall back on. |

Re: Paper or Plastic?I also use a tape recorder, like when I'm driving, or at work. |
|
Re: Paper or Plastic?yeah ... that was part of my thought ... as music goes from analog to digital, something is lost, tho perhaps something is gained in the ability to distribute, albeit at lower quality ... same thing with all digi work, really, even the writing ... I have to keep a small notebook and a pen on my bedside table, because for some reason I always get my best inspiration when I'm trying to fall asleep, and I know I won't remember it in the morning. I don't know how many times I've had to get up and go hunting for pen and paper in the dark, without my glasses. Quite a few of my poems were first sparked into creation in the late hours, when I was drifting somewhere between reality and dreams." I immediately had to ask myself, "What does she do when she's in the shower?" It seems I always get some great starts, but have they made underwater pen and paper yet? Thought about wordslingers suggestion for tape recorder, but getting zapped doesn't appeal to me either! I have resoved myself to praying that anything that really needs to be written will surface in its good time and I will use whatever medium that feels comfortable. It's frustrating, though, because there are ... thoughts and words written on everything from a 2x3 inch scrap of paper to my work on the computer. It feels scary, however not to have a hard copy. I lost a lot of work that I did early this year because of a computer crash. Me thinks I need a better filing system... Nice topic. Ok maybe a etch a stetch, just get some one to silicone the edges where water can seep thru. just a suggestion. Last edited by WordSlinger 10-25-2009 at 09:40:33 AM |

Re: Paper or Plastic? If a voice-activated recorder is used, the sound of the water would turn it on, unless you have really quiet water |
Poetry is what is lost in translation.
