how many poems should a poet write?

RE: how many poems should a poet write?

I have over 5,000 poems. Why stop?
I write because I can't stop.

There is a voice in my head ---- should I be scared?

When nothing is flowing, I read.

Currently reading the poems of Franz Wright, Kieth Waldrop, and Cesar Vallejo.

"how many poems should a poet write?" --- this is an expressive question.
Thank you.

Peace and Light,
Dah

RE: how many poems should a poet write?

I think that a poet should write poems even sometimes when they don't feel inspired, because writing poetry should be as natural as breathing and something that you write might inspire and lift up someone else, who is struggling with difficult things in their life and need some encouragement.grin

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
