Forgotten
Forgotten, alone, and heartbroken,
With no place to call home
Never a kind word to the spoken,
As the streets of the cities they roam.
The family they had is gone,
The joy in their eyes no more,
In their cardboard houses, the sleep alone,
Forgotten, as the sands upon the shore.
These misplaced women and men,
Cast aside like an unwanted shoe.
Looking up, asking God when,
Will I get to be with you?
We never know where life will lead
Sorrows come to us all.
While here we must take heed,
To help those we meet, big or small.
Remember those forgotten,
Help them on their way.
For we may become downtrodden,
And need a helping hand someday.
