Footprints In The Snow
i look for your footprints in the snow
hoping, you would return to me, someday.
waiting patiently, even on a cold winter's morn like this.
you know, how much I dislike the cold.
i see the paws of dogs, the claws of cats
and maybe, the feet of a bird or two.
my face pressed closely against this pane
what I wait for anxiously, looking
are for the footprints of you...
hoping that I will soon smile again
you know, how much I dislike the cold,
but my heart tells me to be true.
so here I am waiting for the warmth of you,
for your arms of love to comfort me,
for your lips to kiss me, too.
wanting to hear your boots covered, white with snow
stamping from this morning's fallen welcome.
seeing you, coming to my door with me peering out this window.
i silently pace these old floors...
i miss your love, I hope you know
as I wait to see... your foot prints in the snow.
