Fallen

Fallen

This is all I asked for,
This is all I'll take
Gifts from the heavens,
I'll bring with me tp hell
Collect my rotten baggage,
And carry it on my back.
This is what I offer you
All I have to give.
The project stairwells,
The alleyways,
The squats, the stoops
Everywhere I shaved off
Another layer of skin
Lose my frragile purchase,
My tender grip
On all I have lef t,
Of wholeness,
Of sanity.
Beauty,after all
Is in the eye of the beholder
But Ive kept my eyes glued shut
And I can't find that which is
Most precious.

Are you new to poetry???? This is really good!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
