Ex-Boyfriend
Ex-boyfriends are like last week's trash that still hasn't been put out.
Like old gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe.
Like my dog that hasn't had a bath in about a year.
Like naked pigs in the mud.
Like Neanderthals.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
