    End of the road

I looked up at the sky
    It looked back and sighed
    Then it said to me
    That the world is mean
    I replied in the affirmative
    Without being sure of myself
    The heavens laughed at me
Then I thought I was dead
A new voice said to me
You are both alive and dead
    Because you are a sinner
    Go and repent
    For the end is nigh

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
