Down the Road
Driving down the road in my big rig truck,
thinking about friends, family, and the next earned buck.
Shining stars and little bitty cars, even the occassional sun.
All along thinking about my next big run.
"Sounds like an easy job", you say, but you don't know
that being a truck driver, sometimes, is rough as you can go!
The, shippers, dispatch, and consignees,
all warn, "On-time delivery, please"!
Keep safety in mind but don't be late,
another "hot load", they need this freight!
Let's not forget tractor/trailer condition.
Unsafe equipment is a warning for restoration.
Check it over each and every day.
Don't miss a beat. If you play, you'll pay!
Look above, below, to the left and the right.
Don't try to do it, if you think it's too tight!
So many distractions, but stay on the road.
You'll never live it down if you spill this load.
Through rain and shine, ice, hail and snow,
we truckers keep goin. We go with the flow.
We risk our lives and yours, so you have what you need.
Please don't harass us and watch your own speed.
You just can't help it, to try and beat that slow truck.
We're out there just like you, but tryin not to push our luck.
Those cell phones you think are just so neat,
pulling over first is a thought that can't be beat.
Remember the "no Zone", as we cannot see,
when you sneek up on us in two point three.
Simple job, you may think, just haulin this load.
Everyone's lives are at stake while drivin down the road.
