Does Anybody Out There Hear Me?
I'm a child in a war torn country.
Flaring bombs are close around me.
I can hear their terrible sound.
While hiding myself here underground.
My hungry body is weak.
As I drag myself to a hole to take a peek.
Fear runs through my bones.
Terror please soon be gone.
Blood stains on the ground.
Dead bodies lie all around.
I can smell the stench.
It makes my empty stomach wrench.
I cover my ears to stop the sound.
Smoke fills the air in this silent town.
The earth rumbles as tanks roll by.
Fire falls from the sky.
When will it all end?
Can I ever go home again?
My parents are gone, I know not where?
Does anyone out there even care?
What's to become of me?
Will there be a country left here to see?
I cry, wondering if I will make
it through the night.
How long must I stay hidden
down here out of sight?
Do you feel my fears?
Do you see my tears?
Does anybody out there hear me?
