    Poem Commentary

I wrote this in my HUMANITIES class an Utah Valley University

    Do You Know Me?

I go where I am told and do what is asked of me. Many people want

me, but I am not for pleasure. I do not care about those who possess

me or those I hurt. I am both death and life. I will

never show you mercy because I cannot feel.
You will take care of me!

Because if you don't I will turn on you when you need me most.
    Yet I

    will never really need you
. I am called a peacemaker, but can never

give you peace. I will destroy all those who touch me even if it takes

many years . I will come to you in the dark of the night when you sleep

but I will only be a dream. The truth is you will never posses me, but I

will posses you from the moment you first taste my power.
    But my

    power is just an illusion
. I exist in every society and I have many

names. I can be large enough that the world can see me, yet I can be

small enough to hide in your hand. Do you know me?
