The enemies bullets flew all around and he knew they were quite near,
And for now he was stuck down in that hole that one thing was clear.
He wished sometimes he hadn't joined oh how he hated the killing,
And the enimies bullets messed things up the sight Lord it was chilling.
But he was a Christian and one thing he knew God was by his side,
And the fact he loved the Lord so much was one thing he'd never hide.
His platoon had been stuck here for days without an end in sight,
And the enemy was closeing in from the left and from the right.
As the sound of the bombs grew louder he prayed "Dear Lord help us today,"
"And Lord please could you help the ones who are lost find you some way."
Then it grew kind of dark and a bomb went off and what happened next noone knew,
For it grew very quiet and most men would say for now the battle was through.
Well they found the young soldier beneath the rubble and there was a smile on his face,
And he had his cross clutched to his chest some said over his heart was its place.
We'll never know what went through his mind as the bullet went through his chest,
But God knew for his country that day that soldier gave his best.
