Army Life
Wake up at 5am to see him off.
Holding his hand and kisses so soft.
Wait all day to hear some news.
Theres no feeling like deployment blues.
The family goes on like nothing is wrong.
It seems like the silences are just to long.
We move through the days counting down each one.
Hoping the day he returns will come.
15 months to isnt so long.
To his wife and daughter it seems all wrong.
The bed is empty and house is to quiet.
In a box there's a flag waiting for you to fly it.
We don't do it because its fun.
Sometimes it seems easier if we just run.
We dont do it because its our fight.
We do it because it is our right.
