And unto the Earth
The fire was to burn away the darkThe water was to sooth the burn
The wind was to cleanse the land of the fire's carrion
And unto the Earth this order was bestowed
An order which brings forth the light
If only to create the dark
And unto the Earth
The fire was to burn away the darkA poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
