Alone
Here I am alone again,
Alone, yet not alone.
For I can see many men,
But the loneliness has grown.
I wonder why I feel like this
When voices I can hear?
Could it be that I might miss
Someone's company to share?
The voices are just so much chatter
Sound, yet not much sense.
The silence in my life they shatter
And make my nerves more tense.
No one hears the words I say,
No ears record what I utter,
None respond in any way.
My thoughts to the wind just flutter.
Most of the time no one's here
That I can touch and see.
It's the emptiness that I can't bear,
This lack of camaraderie.
What is loneliness, I query
That it makes one feel so bad?
Even the body gets tired and weary
And my mood gets gray and sad.
Isolation is not good for me.
It plays tricks with my mind.
It warps my mental energy
Like a watch, it tends to unwind.
My soul longs for the give and take
Of everyday company.
It's the only remedy for the ache
That loneliness brings to me.
Yet, I've heard it said, you're never alone
If God is by your side.
He's always there each moment you've known
That cannot be denied.
Look for him in everything
You hear, see or feel.
Then your loneliness will take wing
And his presence He'll reveal.
Alone, yet not alone.
For I can see many men,
But the loneliness has grown.
I wonder why I feel like this
When voices I can hear?
Could it be that I might miss
Someone's company to share?
The voices are just so much chatter
Sound, yet not much sense.
The silence in my life they shatter
