    A LIFE TIME

    A LIFE TIME

    A life time it seems,
    when you arrived my heart.
Though like a dream it seems,
    but truth it is.
    I ponder and wonder,
    could this be love?

    A life time it seems,
    when you gave your love
    on a platter.
Though like a dream it seems,
    but truth it is.
    I ponder and wonder,
    could this be trust?

    A life time it seems,
    when we first kissed.
"Goodnight" you said, and i said.
Though like a dream it seems,
    but truth it is.
    I ponder and wonder,
    could this be "us"?

    A life time it seems,
when you said "i love you"
and i said i love you too.
Though like a dream it seems,
    but truth it is.
    I ponder and wonder,
    could this be true?

    A life time it seems,
    when we walked the aisle.
you smiled, and i smiled too.
Though like a dream it seems,
    but truth it is.
    I ponder and wonder,
could this be FOR A LIFE TIME?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
