Life that never was
I see you an old woman
I hear your trembling voice
A faint, illusive vision,
A life that never was.
I turn your palm toward me
The lines that run across
Do tell a tender story,
A life that never was.
So much that I desired
Has never felt so close,
We met, we wed, retired,
A life that never was.
