While reading poetry...Does anyon else keep music on? While on this site I play Afghani, Persian, or Indian classical music, and I think it adds a lot to the whole expirence (not that anything can make these poems better, because I've enjoyed everything I've read here). Re: While reading poetry...I do this often as well. I always try to stimulate multiple senses in most things I do. When I am reading I play a lot of classical music, Beethoven and Mozart mostly. When I listen to Music I watch something on TV with the Music down. There is a show that comes on the History channel I believe called "The Universe" and I will watch that while I listen to Pink Floyd or Radiohead, just something that matches nicely with theme of space and beyond to coincide with what i'm watching, or you could go with the 'ol standby The Dark side of Oz, which i'm sure most have heard is where you synch up The dark side of the moon with the wizard of oz. Something else I watch quite often when listening to music is the documentary "Planet Earth". Again, depending on which part of the series you are watching, the forests, the ocean, whatever...just find an album that synchs up, turn the tv down, crank the music up and smoke 'em if ya go 'em. Many times great ideas will come to me when doing so. |

Re: While reading poetry...I also listen to a lot of instrumental guitar by artists like Steve Vai, Buckethead, Steve Morse, but my favorite is Joe Satriani. While Joe really can get down and shred and play some hardcore rock 'n roll, his ballads are second to none. If you search him look for his ballad such as Love Thing, Cryin', & Rubina. This is great backround music for reading, writing, or simply just listening and enjoying the music. |

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
