YEARS AFTER POETRY ???

Years After Poetry ???

YEARS AFTER POETRY

(This was inspired by History Channel Show Life After People))

10 Years After Poetry???
Silence

50 Years After Poetry???
more and more of non brave voices

100 Years After Poetry???
Paper fades, ink dries, books fall apart
Computer data bases go bye, bye

1,000 Years After Poetry

Parrots that was taught verses of poetry
would recite poetry to generations of other parrots.
Dolphins an interesting notion may tell stories of mankind.

Please give these questions a go, and please add more?

Re: YEARS AFTER POETRY ???

X Years after poetry is stopped being written? Or X years after poetry no longer exists? I'm not sure how poetry could simply stop existing...that's a disturbing notion. I suppose humanity would also have come to an end at that point.

Re: YEARS AFTER POETRY ???

It really is a disturbing thought. But i'd imagine ther'd be some rag-tag poetic underground or something... some mix of Brabdo and Yeats....lol

Once upon a time, from out of the sea,
came a race of beings not so different from me.
But perhaps they weren't quite up to the challenge
for they quite forgot to keep their balance.

SEMPER SEMPERTERNAE

What morbid thoughts assail the mind,
Such specious speculAtions
That poesy may not survive
Semper semperternae!
Shall be forever,
The lute may not die!
The viibrations of life is attuned,
As long as the head have fingers;
Methink the Word is a denominator,
His vinculum the music of the spheres:
Thus poetic factor bridges the Great Divide,
The numerator is a whole number.
Creation shall withstand the ravages of Time,
There be hope in the New Jerusalem.

THE FUTURE OF POESY

The future will take care of itself .
It usually relives the past,
Using , abusing it in the present.
But caught on the spit of time.
Happiily roasted in the maelstrom,
We shall not see wrong nor right.
Nor desolation in the spotlight;
For wisdom and folly left behind ,
Unclothed of the coat of worry,
We shall not hang around for long.

COUNT ME IN! Me an' mi rockin' chair! ....................................lol

They waved their fins and laughed at us,
At us, pachedermous dryland humans!
We did pat their watery snouts
As they splashed water on our face.
Those aqua-black leatherly beasts!
They thought we were sub-human,
We who dwelt in houses on streets
And wrote poetry like a caveman.

Re: YEARS AFTER POETRY ???

may I make an observation?

Poetry seems to me like snapshotss of nature and human nature, a fluid and vibrant force in and amongst everything alive or otherwise (what can't we write life into?). So, that said, maybe one day the scribes who scribble what Nature dicates to us, but the force fromm which we listen and live shall never be estinguished. Poetry will never die, even when the poets do.

Word,

sent you a parrot that speaks Spanish. Did you get it?

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
