Testimonies of OPAs the old saying goes, proof is in the pudding, it absoletly works 100% of the time. My record was for my most recent poem "Where were you", a poem about the tragedy of 9-11, it recieved 43 reviews in 24hrs, not too shabby so I definetely agree with Rhymer on this one! I think this thread is a great idea, we can use this thread for people to post thier feeback on how the information we are passing on actually works for others, thier testmonies. So I welcome all who have read and learned from the forum threads to come and post your feedback here, great idea Rhymer!!! Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL |

RE: Contacting Friends WorksAs the saying goes you scratch my back I'll scratch yours. Most poet friends want their poetry read. So when you ask them to come read, they do. Then you in return will do the same and read theirs so all poets can get read. There are many poets I read who rarely read me, but I do not have to read them again if I choose not to. I figure maybe they will get curious sooner or later and come read my stuff, or I refer them to some poems on my list and eventually they come and read. SO be patient poets, in time friends ordinarily repay the favor. And the ones who fade away can be deleted from your friend's list if you so choose. Just a thought I felt like jabbering about... |

RE: Contacting Friends WorksFirst of all thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I try very hard to repay peoles comments by reading and commenting on what they have posted. I will also view my friends activity and comment on poems I see they have visited and commented on. I also go to the reading room and read titles that appeal to me and comment. Doing all of this I will still miss new posts from my friends who have been kind enough to read and post on mine, so please feel free to send me a message if you post a new one, I will read your work and comment. |

Notifying friends about my poem Pastor Jack = 24 comments in 24 hours. Posted my new poem Sacrifice and did not notify my friends = 9 comments in 24 hours. With both poems I was commenting on others work as usual and replying to comments as they were made. I think you can see the difference. |

RE: Real testimonies of the ins and outs of OP; CONTACTING FRIENDS WORKSMake good use of your Private Messages to keep contact with friends.THANKS, Rhymer. Inviting friends to read your work is an excellent practice. Not only does it ensure your work is read , but it is a pleasant way to keep in contact with friends., My poem , "The Old School" attracted 110 comments, mostly by invitations to read. A thank you note is always appreciated, and is also an effective and charming medium of maintaining friendships. If you have the time, it is also a good idea to add a bit of chit-chat ( even to ask how is the weather........LOL) in your requests to friends to read your poem. Please do not include in your request, "I shall do you the same favour." It is not kosher, It sounds gauche. ...I am guilty of doing this sometimes ..........LOL Learn a little a about each of the life and interests of your friends, Tell a little about yourself Don't treat your friends as mere names and ships passing in the night. Amen? Make good and personal use of your PM facility Last edited by cousinsoren 11-08-2010 at 06:44:58 AM |
The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
