CORPORATE BOA CONSTRICTORS

Let's talk about how the laws might be changed to eliminate the preferential treatment enjoyed by incorporated (non-human) entities over living people. Let's go to the roots!

DEVAAMIDO"S OP BIO:

:coolgrin:cool grin:coolgrinWhatever I've done in the past is irrelevant to what I'm doing now:
What I'm doing now is learning to write poetry & prose that expresses the best that's in me, in a manner that's pleasing to me & to others.
Here's what I'd like from you: 1) Tell me how I could make the poem you read better. 2) Tell me if you don't understand it & what part you don't understand. 3) If you think one of my poems simply rehashes boring old ideas (nothing new), tell me. 4) If there's a different poetic form that you think is better for the material, tell me. 5) In general: tell me when I've made a mistake or a stupid error. 6) I'm not so interested in your final summary score (0 to 10) of how good or bad you think the poem is, as I am interested in knowing how you think I COULD IMPROVE.
For those who care about what I've done in this lifetime:
1) I've been a practicing medical doctor for 58 years & retiried in January 2010. 2) In the 70's I was an expert forensic consultant in jail & prison health, at the same time, I designed & sold gold & silver jewelry. I was a SAC, Air Force combat navigator during the late 50's. In the 60's I was the CEO of 2 health planning programs in Long Island. I've taught at several medical schools & retired as a professor of Internal medicine on the 22nd of January, 2010. Since which time I haven't had anything to do but write poetry, rest up, grow torpid & bore my wife. I could always get a job as aa Walmart greeter, so tell me if you think I should apply.

RE: CORPORATE BOA CONSTRICTORS

Orin, I'm overwhelmed and humbled that you might think enough of my little "rants" to assemble all this information about them. Thank you so much!!

But I am serious about the need to think about how we can REALLY "even the playing field". We already know that about 90% of those who control of the money supply will NOT help, no matter what they say. What do we do now? That's my default rant!.................................................Thanks again,......d

What do we do , Dear Deva?

"The Desiderata" is the answer! Look for it on the Net. To it, add this prayer( whether you believe in prayer or not)

God, grant us the...
Serenity to accept things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference
Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.

Your living depends on you surviving the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." (Shakespeare)

But consider, my friend, this may not be the best use of prayer. Similar to prayer's lack of efficacy in improving survival of ICU patients.

PRAYER

Prayer is not an arrow
You can carry in your quiver
That simply waits inert to save you
When they sell you down the river.
It’s more like a change in attitude
To lighten up your liver,
Laying out a little gratitude
That’s likely to get bigger
‘Til the day the “Big Guy”
Decides its time
For filling up
Your jigger,
And your
Life just starts all over
This time knowing where to find the triggers
Of your mind.
So you’re not blind,
Expanding bigger.

i see that you are a pragmatist like myself...................LOL. But back to the Desiderata! A lot of what you say in this poem is embedded, lying passively in it.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LOL

RE: CORPORATE BOA CONSTRICTORS

Quote:

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant,
They too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
For always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
It is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
Many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
For in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann c.1920
