Memorial Day - 2010Many of us have heard "Taps" played at the funerals of those who served in the Military. I didn't even know it had words until this morning when the words were included in an e-mail I received from a friend. I am posting it here as a tribute, in gratefulness, for all those who serve or have served our country! Last edited by Aria 05-30-2010 at 12:33:25 PM |

RE: Memorial Day - 2010WORLD WAR TWO MEMORIAL In USA.Aria Posts: 117 Memorial Day - 2010 Many of us have heard "Taps" played at the funerals of those who served in the Military. I didn't even know it had words until this morning when the words were included in an e-mail I received from a friend. I am posting it here as a tribute, in gratefulness, for all those who serve or have served our country! Day is done. Gone the sun. From the lakes From the hills. From the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. Fading light. Dims the sight. And a star. Gems the sky. Gleaming bright. From afar. Drawing nigh. Falls the night. Thanks and praise. For our days. Neath the sun Neath the stars. Neath the sky As we go. This we know. God is nigh. READER'S COMMENT: THANKS, Aria, Lest we forget! Lest we forget! Lest we forget! RE: Memorial Day - 2010Beautiful and timely post indeed Aria. And much appreciated at that. I have several family members who fell on the battlefield. Some have thier names carved into walls. A very fitting tribute, and newsworthy post I might add. Thank you very much Aria. As cousinsorens stated, Lest we forget! Here here. |

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
