WINDING ROADJamaica is a very mountainous island. Some of the roads offer the most breath-taking scenery. Your could have your heart in your mouth, if you are unused to tortuous mountain roads Occasionally, one comes upon an amusing episode as this: Climbing up a winding road, Be it Devil’s Race Course or worse, ‘ Can be a most fascinating feat- You never know what you may meet As you steer the tortuous route. Careful now! Do not make straight a corner, Before every bend blow your horn. Some maniac may be skipping a pothole, Come kissing you on your bumper, Somehow, they never warn. Sharp, straight deep narrow bend, Lord, when will they ever end? When, lo and behold, A yellow sign bawls at you in red! That’s enough to buzz your head. CAUTION WINDING ROAD. Twists and turns your senses end, Twists and turns you defend Until you appear distraught. When you think you all have wrought, Greeted by a sign that says, CAUTION. MAJOR WORK AHEAD. Wow! A huge boulder your path do block, A solitary man perched on a rock Is pecking at it with an iron bar: Solitary he seems , but not alone despite, Two men rest on the brink of a ditch Merrily eating dumplings and fish, One sits on box on which was crudely writ, CAUTION- HANDLE - WITH- CARE- EXPLOSIVE. Aaah…. Last edited by cousinsoren 05-25-2010 at 05:39:26 AM |

RE: WINDING ROADHopefully there are not too many winding roads up ahead for all of us.... |
To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
