THE COURAGE OF am2anangel, POETESS
am2anangel's Biography:
I am a 38 year old disabled mother of two boys. I had two strokes at the age of 31 in 2002. Which left me paralyzed on my left side. I have been writing poetry for about 21 years.
My two sons are my real joy. They had to grow up real fast after my strokes I'll always feel guilty for robbing them of part of their childhood. I've found that in life you really can't take things for granted. Who would have thought that one day my kids would be tying my shoes and zipping my coat for me? You can't just feel sorry for yourself either or dwell on the "why" of things or you'll never really "live."
I escape in my poetry and release inner pain and hide behind the false mask of happiness. Some days it gets tiring. But seems expected now. hmm another poem in there somewhere lol! My dream is to publish a book of poetry someday.
After my second stroke I was in a coma and my family was told to tell me goodbye that I wouldn't live another 24 hours. I guess then I woke up and started waving at my kids. Kind of put life into perspective I think.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
