This poem is an excellent piece of "pathetic fallacy," wherein the poet gives a human mind to an insect, and then makes an incursion into that mind to sustain the theme of self-preservation and caution, as well as his feelings for, and your keen and sensitive observation of the things and the creatures of Nature, Stardrift ,, you display , as in your other creationsm that you are a perfectionist in your mastery of the iambic pentameter and your impeccable rhyming scheme. My rating for this very sensitive and immaculately crafted piece is 10+
